There's Gold In Them Thar Space Rocks

As a miner, you have one of the most valuable but often overlooked positions on the station. People need minerals, and you've got the axe. The pay is terrible, the conditions are worse... But are least you're not working on a rimworld.

Blood-drunk and Dangerous

Tips:

  • A mining drill is already an incredibly useful weapon.
  • You can breach rooms by drilling through the floors if you're on the bottom deck, or create a quick escape or infiltration route if you're on any other.
  • Optical Material Scanners let you see objects through walls. This is very useful for spying good maint loot or hidden rooms.
  • You are not supposed to be on the station for long periods of time, and not supposed to wear your distinctive suit either. Consider emmagging the suit cycler and repainting it to look like an Engineering suit.

Gimmicks: If you steal a couple boards from Tech Storage, as a miner you have all the materials you need to create an independent, self-sufficient station complete with medical bay, research fabricator, phoron-combustion engine, and no rules. In a team traitor mode, you'll probably be in charge of creating and maintaining saferooms on the asteroid, especially if you have teleportation capabilities, and even solo they make a useful place to lay low. With the Southern Cross now the standard map, your mining drill, hardsuit, and a jetpack from EVA or Research (or a fire extinguisher and some spunk) allow you to pull off daring heists, escapes, assasinations, and even jailbreaks. You're one of the coolest jobs on the station; make sure your victims know it.
